This division of the state Department of Health licenses, regulates and disciplines all physicians in Rhode Island and the position provides Patrick with an unmatched insight and knowledge of the Rhode Island medical industry. He has focused his practice in medical negligence and other complex injury cases, with a special emphasis on claims involving handicapped and injured children.

Since beginning of his career in 1997, Patrick has successfully tried or assisted in many complex personal injury trials and settled numerous multi-million dollar claims for his clients. Prior to joining David Morowitz in 2008 and forming Morowitz & Barry, Ltd., Patrick assisted in the case that achieved the highest jury verdict in Newport County and the historic $28 million Oliveira v. Chase Manhattan case. He also served on the team of attorneys representing the interests of Rhode Island's taxpayers following the collapse of the state's credit union industry. This team was successful in obtaining over $180 million in settlements from the bankers, accountants and attorneys involved in the RISDIC disaster in 1991. He is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Patrick was elected President of the Rhode Island Association for Justice (the state Trial Lawyers Association) in September 2009. He has worked tirelessly for his individual clients, but has also advocated for legal protections for all patients, consumers and members of the public in a number of areas. Patrick has been invited to speak to many professional groups on topics ranging from serious personal injury cases, to the rules of evidence and trial practice, to the ethical and legal implications of "end of life" medical care. These groups include the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Rhode Island Medical Society, area hospitals and medical service corporations and various trial lawyer organizations.

Patrick graduated from Boston University with a BA degree in 1990. He graduated from Widener University School of Law with a JD degree, cum laude, in 1996. At Widener, he served as the Articles Editor for the Widener Law Symposium Journal and authored the published paper "Questioning the Answers: Admissibility of Scientific Evidence in the Remand of Daubert v. Merrell Dow." He worked his way through law school bartending at night and obtained scholarships and a fellowship with the Delaware Supreme Court. Before beginning his law practice, Patrick worked for one year as a law clerk for the Rhode Island Superior Court, where he met his wife Jennifer. Jenn is also an attorney and is affiliated with Morowitz & Barry as Of Counsel. Patrick and Jennifer both worked for a large plaintiff's perosnal injury firm (Decof & Decof, P.C.) for over ten years before forming Morowitz & Barry, Ltd. They have two small children and enjoy helping each other provide personalized, in-depth service to their clients.

"Peace is more important than all justice; and peace was not made for the sake of justice, but justice for the sake of peace."
